10: Ashton – ‘Brick By Boring Brick’

Lily Ashton (Young Adult)

Lily Ashton moved from Aperture Valley into the city in hopes of pursuing a career in writing music.  She was talented enough, it was just a matter of getting a foot in the door.  It was proving to be more difficult than she had anticipated.

She woke up late most days, a headache forming behind her eyes from the night before.  It appeared that the music types liked to party.  If she wanted to successfully schmooze her way in, she had to keep up.  It made for some pretty interesting nights, at the very least.

10: Martel/Mosley – ‘Somebody Told Me’

Luis Martel (Young Adult), Gwendolyn Mosley (Young Adult), Sacha Harcourt (Young Adult)

Luis had spent a lot of time with Philip in the months after Sacha gave him “the news.”  He hadn’t really expected to be a father before he was even in a fully-formed relationship.  It was all a bit… shocking.  Talking it over with Philip made him feel a little better.

“Do you know how much babies cost?  Lots,” Luis moaned, taking another quick drink.  “And Sacha’s career.  You know what babies do to careers!”

Philip chuckled.  “Sacha doesn’t seem near as hung up about it as you are.  I think you need to just chill out.  Be glad it’s with someone like her and not someone crazy…”

“You’re talking about Gwen, aren’t you?”  Luis shook his head.  “That’s just a messed up situation, man… and I had nothing to do with it!  But… I guess that’s what happens, isn’t it?”

“Who would have thought, you know?  That’s life.”

10: Novak 2 – ‘At The Bottom’

Stefan Novak (Young Adult), Paula Novak (Young Adult)

“Hurry up, Paula,” Stefan grumbled as he watched his twin sister chatter away on her cell phone.  “We’re going to be late.”

Paula ignored his warning, as she usually did.  She was on the phone with their father.  Her charges had cleared and she wouldn’t be spending anymore time in jail, but she had a record now.  They would have to go through another bought of trials to get it expunged.

She clicked the cell phone off and sent her impatient brother a rueful look.  “You could talk to daddy sometimes, too, you know.”

Stefan rolled his eyes and moved towards the door.  “Not this again.  Come on, Paula.”

10: Steel-Klein – ‘Lights and Sounds’

Clark Klein (Vampire), Morrigan Hemlock (Vampire), Asha Steel (Adult), Emma Steel (Teen), Julian Steel (Child)

Clark Klein had Aperture City in the palm of his hand.  He’d completely overthrown the old crime family and had even gained some ground they’d been unable to seize.  Through cunning and determination, he’d made his way to the top.

That didn’t stop his wife, Asha, from giving him looks of disapproval as he took work calls in the living quarters of their mansion, however.  She’d be raised in the life, she understood the necessity of being constantly available, she just preferred if he did it away from her children.

10: Klein – ‘Bittersweet Symphony’

Alex Klein (Adult), Rhys Klein (Child), Gavin Klein (Child)

Gavin Klein was an odd child.  He liked talking to himself–the kind done in the middle of a room, sans mirror–which freaked his older brother and father out quite a bit.  Still, he had inherited his father’s natural charm and so it always seemed less strange than it should be.

He was friendly.  He loved to talk.  It just didn’t always have to be at someone.

10: Ryder – ‘Super Bass’

Siblings Jessica Ryder and Jack Ryder were close, when Jack wasn’t slipping dye into Jessica’s shampoo and Jessica wasn’t giving him noogies.  It wasn’t always easy being siblings of opposing genders, especially when your sister was older, stronger, and quite happy to prove it.

Lately, Jack had been focusing his attentions on his art.  He had always enjoyed it and he loved his after-school class.  He’d even won a few awards.  His art teacher had been encouraging him to hone his talents, so Jack stopped pranking and picked up his paintbrush.  The house breathed a collective sigh of relief.

10: Novak – ‘Secret’

Oskar Novak (Elder), Kelly McMaster (Adult), Andrew Novak (Young Adult), Natalia Novak (Teen)

Kelly was coming to the startling realization that with every passing day, she was becoming more and more like her dearly departed mother, Sheila.  Having a college student living in the house was downright painful.  Andrew was neat and tidy, but his studies took all of his attention.  Kelly was a little more than tired of having to follow him around and pick up after him.  He was grown, after all!

There was a time when Kelly had sworn she’d never be like her mother.  Now, however, she found herself nagging her children the same way Sheila had nagged her.  She wondered if it was the byproduct of Camilla’s untimely death.  Oskar had distanced himself considerably since then and the family was still trying to find a way to recover.

10: Cosaro – ‘Break Your Heart’

Dominic Cosaro (Adult)

Dominic Cosaro wasn’t really the type to get hung up over something silly like Sacha running off with Luis.  In fact, if everything worked out, he’d be happy for her.  Camilla’s death, however, was an entirely different matter.  He didn’t talk about it, he declined to comment when the media asked, and he wouldn’t even talk about it with his close friends.

Instead, he welcomed the distraction of finally being able to woo ladies publicly again.

10: McMaster – ‘Undone’

Patrick McMaster (Elder), Noreen McMaster (Elder),  Philip McMaster (Young Adult), Mark McMaster (Young Adult), Juliet McMaster (Teen), Catherine McMaster (Teen)

Things did not start off well for the McMaster family.  Their beloved horse, Old Roy, was on his last legs.  Death came to collect him during the night while everyone was asleep.  Only Dolly and Drifter were there to see him off.

He had lived a good, long life.  Now he could join his former master, Sheila, in the afterlife.
