15: Steel/Taylor – ‘Grand Theft Autumn’

Emma Steel (Young Adult), Skip Taylor (Young Adult), Amy Steel (Baby)

Dominic Cosaro spent a lot of time over at Emma’s apartment. He was babysitting his first grandchild, Amy. Of course, ‘babysitting’ a tiny infant mostly entailed him playing computer games while she napped quietly in her nursery. Emma and Skip did all the heavy lifting, which was just as well. Dominic had never been terribly skilled with babies.

14: Martel – ‘Save the World’

Luis Martel (Adult), Sacha Martel (Adult), Aidan Martel (Child), Sandra Martel (Child), Zoey Martel (Baby)

Sacha and Luis Martel were quite happy with their life. They’d had an unexpected child enter the picture, but that had only been a small speed bump along the way. Sacha was a noteworthy model and actress while Luis was on his way to running the DNA lab at the police department. Everything seemed to be going extremely well for the strangely matched couple.

13: Ryder – ‘Pressure’

Khalid Ryder (Elder), Jessica Ryder (Young Adult)

Khalid Ryder spent his twilight days with the small squirrel he’d rescued. He’d rehabilitated it and attempted to release it back into the wild, but it refused to leave. It lived in the terrarium in their living room now. His small critter was a balm in the wake of Cherie’s death. The years had been difficult without her.

12: Steel-Klein – ‘Careful’

Clark Klein (Vampire), Asha Steel (Vampire), Emma Steel (Teen), Julian Steel (Teen)

Emma Steel knew something wasn’t right. It was there–hanging in the air, tangible only to her. She was standing there, teetering on the fearsome precipice of change.

She wasn’t a kid. She knew that things changed; it was the natural order of everything to mutate and evolve beyond its initial state of being. Still, it rankled her. It wasn’t a good change. The feeling was an ominous one.

12: Ryder – ‘Another Brick in the Wall’

Cherie Ryder (Elder), Khalid Ryder (Elder), Jessica Ryder (Young Adult), Jack Ryder (Young Adult)

Jessica Ryder enjoyed her job. She’d always wanted to grow up and become a firefighter like her father, Khalid. It was a lot of hard work, but at the end of the day, Jessica was quite happy with her accomplishments. She hoped to one day become Chief Firefighter like her dad.

12: Novak – ‘Move Along’

Kelly McMaster (Adult), Andrew Novak (Young Adult), Natalia Novak (Young Adult)

Kelly Novak was doing her best to deal with the cards that she had been dealt. The loss of her husband had been difficult, but she was managing. She still had her children to keep her going. It was a shame that Andrew had lost his girlfriend, Regan. She’d been so young. It was just a reminder of how fleeting life really was.

Kelly had done her best to comfort him, but what do you say when something awful like that happens?

12: McMaster – ‘Cycle’

Patrick McMaster (Elder),  Philip McMaster (Young Adult), Bianca McMaster (Young Adult), Mark McMaster (Young Adult), Dylan McMaster (Baby)

Bianca McMaster was quite pleased with her life at late. Little Dylan’s birth had brought back a bit of life into the house. Everything had been rather mournful since Noreen’s passing. With Dylan in the picture, everyone perked up a bit. It was a shame that Noreen never got to see her grandson.

11: Novak/Canales – ‘Shine’

Andrew Novak (Young Adult), Regan Canales (Young Adult)

Andrew Novak and Regan Canales had been dating for years now. It only made sense that once they finished college, they’d move in together. Andrew was more than happy to get out of his mournful house while Regan was just happy to be rid of the distance between them. It had been a hard last few years trying to balance their long distance relationship, but it had all worked out in the end.

They both felt significantly less guilty now, too. Lucy was married and she seemed pretty happy. They could enjoy their relationship completely now.

11: Steel-Klein – ‘Emergency’

Clark Klein (Vampire), Morrigan Hemlock (Vampire), Asha Steel (Vampire), Emma Steel (Teen), Julian Steel (Teen)

Paula Novak walked briskly through the sodden backyard of the Steel-Klein household, leaves sticking to the bottom of her boots. It was a typical autumn day in Aperture. A rainy morning had left a dense fog hanging long into the afternoon, giving everything an unseemly sheen of moisture. It was like walking through soup.

11: Novak – ‘Them Bones’

Oskar Novak (Elder), Kelly McMaster (Adult), Natalia Novak (Teen)

Oskar Novak was really beginning to feel his age.  It didn’t help that he’d caught the flu and then had a bad round of food poisoning from a local restaurant.  There had been an incident with lettuce that left him bed-ridden for several days.

Between being just plain old, getting sick, and finding out his son was in jail, Oskar was not having a good time.
