15: Klein – ‘When You Were Young’

Alex Klein (Adult), Rhys Klein (Young Adult), Bettina Ackerman (Young Adult)

Alex Klein was living the good life, for the most part. He was still on the political scene, but in a decidedly diminished sense. He was now one of those who helped decide the people that would run and managed their affairs for that particular party. It was a nice change. Age was quickly creeping up on him and he definitely felt the need to scale back.

He’d taken up writing as a hobby, to fill in the gaps. He had started out writing about politics, but his publisher urged him to write about himself.

15: University – ‘Messages’

Julian Cosaro (Term 1), Gavin Klein (Term 1), Michelle Valdes (Term 1)

Julian Cosaro had been excited to head off to University–a whole new world of academia to uncover. He was majoring n Science along with Gavin Klein. The two were mild acquaintances from high school, though they didn’t travel in the same ‘social circles.’ Julian was surprised to see Michelle Valdes in attendance, as well.

“Are you saying that someone like me couldn’t get into university?” Michelle was brazen and forthright. She was only joking, but Julian was too nervous to notice. She was a transplant, having moved to Aperture with only two years left in high school. Her family was a bit… odd.

“W-What? No,” he began nervously, “that’s not what I meant at all–”

She waved him off and continued to her room, “calm down, boy wonder. I was kidding.”

14: Klein – ‘Eyes on Fire’

Alex Klein (Adult), Rhys Klein (Young Adult), Bettina Ackerman (Young Adult), Gavin Klein (Teen)

Alex Klein welcomed his son and his son’s fiancee into his house. It was always understood that Rhys would return. Things were a bit tense still, with Rhys and Alex still not able to find any concise common ground. There was a familial bond, but Rhys was just so uptight at times.

Bettina was the opposite. Alex wasn’t even sure how it worked. She was a sweet girl, though. Passionate about her art and clearly quite in love with Rhys. Perhaps she could pull the stick out of his butt.

14: University – ‘Casual Affair’

Jack Ryder (Year Four), Rhys Klein (Year Three), Emma Steel (Year Three), Bettina Ackerman (Year Three)

For their final two years of university, they all decided to go in on a house rental. It turned out to be a brilliant idea. The dorms were crowded and annoying, but with the privacy of their own home, things were much easier. Emma kind of wished that Rhys and Bettina would save the PDA for their bedroom, though.

13: Klein – ‘Unglued’

Alex Klein (Adult), Gavin Klein (Teen)

With Rhys gone, Link was left with Gavin. Thankfully, Gavin was odd ball enough to enjoy spending time with the dog he grew up with, despite the frigid end of winter weather. It had been snowing for what seemed like days with no signs of stopping. Gavin had been off school for almost a week straight!

13: University (Yr 1) – ‘Ignorance’

Jack Ryder (Year Two), Rhys Klein (Year One), Emma Steel (Year One), Bettina Ackerman (Year One)

Rhys Klein and Bettina Ackerman were quite happy to finally be at University. They were assigned to the same co-ed dorm, so they were able to spend plenty of time together. Their majors were pretty similar, too. Rhys was focusing on Music, while Bettina wanted to improve her artistic talents.

It was a pretty perfect situation.

12: Klein – ‘Connection’

Alex Klein (Adult), Rhys Klein (Teen), Gavin Klein (Child)

Gavin Klein was a little apprehensive about his father’s plan to throw him a birthday party. It wasn’t that Gavin didn’t like people, he did… he just wasn’t really sure he wanted a party celebrating his ascent into the awkwardness of the teenage years.

Unfortunately for him, Alex was hell-bent on doing the best he possibly could for his boys; even if that meant going against their wishes. He was governor now and didn’t get to spend as much time with them as he once had. So he tried to make up for it whenever he could.

11: Steel-Klein – ‘Emergency’

Clark Klein (Vampire), Morrigan Hemlock (Vampire), Asha Steel (Vampire), Emma Steel (Teen), Julian Steel (Teen)

Paula Novak walked briskly through the sodden backyard of the Steel-Klein household, leaves sticking to the bottom of her boots. It was a typical autumn day in Aperture. A rainy morning had left a dense fog hanging long into the afternoon, giving everything an unseemly sheen of moisture. It was like walking through soup.

11: Klein – ‘Supervixen’

Alex Klein (Adult), Rhys Klein (Teen), Gavin Klein (Child)

Things at the Klein household had found a routine. It was one colored with bachelorhood and no care for social norms. Alex did his best, but he was a busy man, so it was inevitable that the boys ended up living off of pizza and only doing their homework when they felt the need. Luckily, both boys were pretty good at school and the teachers never had to call home.

Alex kept swearing to Lana he would get a butler, but he never got around to it. The recent loss of Oskar was still stinging in the boy’s hearts and it just felt wrong to introduce someone new into their lives so soon after the death of their grandfather.

10: Steel-Klein – ‘Lights and Sounds’

Clark Klein (Vampire), Morrigan Hemlock (Vampire), Asha Steel (Adult), Emma Steel (Teen), Julian Steel (Child)

Clark Klein had Aperture City in the palm of his hand.  He’d completely overthrown the old crime family and had even gained some ground they’d been unable to seize.  Through cunning and determination, he’d made his way to the top.

That didn’t stop his wife, Asha, from giving him looks of disapproval as he took work calls in the living quarters of their mansion, however.  She’d be raised in the life, she understood the necessity of being constantly available, she just preferred if he did it away from her children.
